HELLO TUMBLR USER POWERFUL LESBIAN MOTHER
I have a huge favor to ask of you :) My religious private college has a kick ass gay/straight alliance type club and we recently did an It Gets Better video (right on!) but now the administration is mad about it (not right on!). They are afraid that this video seems like it’s a “college sanctioned message” and Concordia is not going to get behind it. Because god forbid we tell kids not to kill themselves, right? Not to mention we’re ELCA and the ELCA has said a few times that gays are cool with them…
So anyway, I want to raise hell about it, but since I’m in the video and oops, work for the people who don’t want to get behind it, I can’t do a whole lot, without them saying “sit down you big lesbian, you’re fired” or something like that.
BUT YOU CAN! :D
If you wish to, I would be forever grateful if you could watch the video, comment on it, share it, tweet it, tumblr it, any of the above. My goal is to get it so many views and positive feedbacks that the administration can’t ignore it :)
So in case you’d like to help (PLEASE DO) here are a few helpful links :)
My Concordia blog post about the video (comments really help here) - http://cobblog.cord.edu/?p=9573
The video itself (views and comments and shares are super helpful) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34sCgjf9y8Y
My tumblr post about it (i want a lot of reblogs from famous people like yourself if at all possible :) ) - http://diannatar.tumblr.com/post/20983733684/diannatar-concordia-college-it-gets-better
Thank thank thank thank you for taking the time to read through all these words and honestly I will do anything you wish. I think you’re great and I enjoy following you :)

Hi Kelsey! Could you do me a HUGE favor and help me get the word out about Amendment 1?
It’s a BIG deal for gay rights in my home state of North Carolina.
If Amendment 1 passes, it means that not only will gay marriage be banned in NC, that ban will become a part of the state constitution- meaning that it’s a permanent law that can never be changed. If this law passes, it means that as long as I stay in the state that I was born a raised in, I can never get married, there would literally be NO hope. It’s basically a big “fuck you” to anyone working to give ALL NC residents equal rights. It would take away the only chance of being a legal family to the many families in the state that don’t meet the definition of “one man and one woman.” I’m surprised, because I’ve heard so very little about Amendment 1 anywhere. When Prop 8 was on the ballot, there were celebrities speaking out against it, posing for photo shoots, and being advocates. Which is WONDERFUL, especially for residents of California. For Amendment 1, I have seen a total of 2 signs, sitting in people lawns, protesting it. That’s ALL. I didn’t even know it existed until I saw that my school was hosting a panel about it, that I fully plan to go to. North Carolina is a very conservative state. I don’t know anything about the state’s politics, but I do live here. We’re not talking about an open minded place here, people. That’s why it’s SO important that the word get out about Amendment 1. We need all the help we can get to combat this ignorance! Please help me, my government is trying to strip me of my rights. They are allowing a majority vote for a minority population. If you know anyone in NC, tell them to PLEASE vote against Amendment 1. Against Amendment 1 will the be first vote that I ever make, and I’m PROUD to say that the first time I ever vote will be to protect my rights.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read!

What is RainbowNET?
It’s an online network whose aim is to unite gender and sexual minority (GSM) youth and aid them in times of need. We’re looking to compile and present local, national, and international LGBT+ resources into one easily accessible location, as well as provide a safe environment for advice and support from other members of the community.
Don’t we already kind of do that here on Tumblr?
Tumblr is where the idea started. But unlike the sporadic and (sometimes) questionable aspect of the support available on Tumblr, we’re looking to ensure safety and legitimacy. We also want to make sure that help is always available, and in one easy to access location.
Where is it?
The website is still being built, but can be found here. Currently, membership is by invitation only, but it will be open to the public soon.
Who will be able to join?
Everyone, regardless of race, religious affiliation, identity, nationality, body, orientation, or whereabouts. RainbowNET is, however, geared toward youth.
How can I help?
You can help us compile local resources. We’re looking for contact information for LGBT+ friendly religious groups, legal help, shelters and any local organization helpful to GSM minority groups. If you are part of or know of those in your area, you can really help us by submitting the contact information to our ask box, submissions, or email.
